The international conference Governance, Memory and History: Historical Knowledge for Peacebuilding, Conflict Prevention and Resolution will take place in Potsdam, Germany, from 1–3 June 2026.
The conference explores the role of historical knowledge, collective memory and memory politics in peacebuilding, conflict prevention and democratic resilience. Historians, policymakers, diplomats and civil society actors will come together to discuss how historical narratives shape contemporary societies and international relations.
Historians without Borders Finland is pleased to contribute to the programme. HWB Chair Dr. Erkki Tuomioja will participate in the opening session on Monday, and on Tuesday HWB will present preliminary results from the History in Exile project.
