Why has Russia so quickly shifted from constructive cooperation into the role of an aggressive challenger? What is really taking place in Hungary? Why is it still relevant in the United States today what the Founding Fathers wrote to each other in letters 240 years ago?
These, and many other questions, are answered in an anthology published by Historians without Borders in Finland in the spring of 2016. Sixteen experts of diplomacy, politics and history – among them Timothy Garton Ash, Vladislav Zubok, Henrik Meinander, Norbert Frei and Martti Ahtisaari – write about the use and abuse of history, so that we can better understand the past, the present and the future.
The Use and Abuse of History is published by Siltala.
Historians without Borders in Finland promotes historical awareness, historical debate and the use of historical information for conflict prevention and resolution. The association was founded in 2015.
