We are looking for a Project Coordinator for the History in Exile project

Historians without Borders in Finland is looking for a Project Coordinator for a project on Russian memory and history politics. The Coordinator will be responsible for the operational activities of the project and will start by the beginning of October. Please apply by 31 July 2024 at the latest.

Historians without Borders in Finland launches History in Exile: Dialogue on Russian Memory and History Politics in the Nordic and Baltic Countries, a project to promote dialogue between historians and history teachers in the Nordic and Baltic countries as well as the public on Russian memory and history politics and its implications for historical research in Russian society. The association is recruiting a Project Coordinator, who is responsible for the operational activities of the project. Among other things, the Coordinator will organize project events, maintain contacts with project stakeholders and partners, and write the final project report. The Coordinator will work under the guidance of the project working group and report regularly to the working group. 

The Coordinator will be recruited on a half-time basis (50% of working time, i.e. 18.75 hours/week) for the period 1.10.2024-30.6.2025. However, if possible, it is hoped that the Coordinator will start already in September 2024. The salary for this post is €1600/month. The office of the association is located in Helsinki, but there is the possibility of partial remote work.

We are looking for a person with a university degree in a relevant field (such as history, politics, Russia, Eurasia or Eastern Europe) and an interest in history and memory politics, history teaching and historical research. We would particularly appreciate it if the person selected for the post has worked on these topics in their own research or theses. The successful candidate should have practical experience in project work, stakeholder work and/or event coordination. The Coordinator must be fluent in English and Russian spoken language, be able to write a project report in fluent English and otherwise write with sufficient proficiency in Russian.
