Historians without Borders in Finland and its pilot project OSCE by All project will participate in the Europe Forum with a panel discussion. Follow the discussion on 30 August from 10:00-10:45 (EEST) in Turku or via webcast.
Foreign Minister Valtonen has said that as part of Finland’s 2025 OSCE Chairpersonship, she would like Finland and the OSCE to be a beacon of hope for many countries in the region. At the same time, the state of civil society and the possibilities to participate in foreign and security policy in Finland and elsewhere is changing, both as a result of economic cutbacks as well as the changed world situation. This panel brings together academics, civil society and officials to discuss the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe ahead of the Finnish Chairpersonship. The panel will reflect on the historical significance of the OSCE process and its future role as part of the European security order. How did Finland and the OSCE contribute to the international human rights movement during the Cold War, and how could we do it again today?
