Erkki Tuomioja, Chairman of Historians without Borders in Finland, met historians, policy experts and diplomats at a conference at the University of Cambridge on 4 April 2024.
Erkki Tuomioja was an invited speaker at the 2014 Revolution in Ukraine and the Baltic conference organised by the Centre for Geopolitics at the University of Cambridge on 4 April 2024. Leading experts in the history, theory and practice of international relations discussed the role and reactions of the Baltic states to the 2014 Ukrainian revolution and its immediate aftermath. Tuomioja’s contribution to the panel discussion The View Across the Baltic – Ukraine from the Nordic Perspective addressed the events in Ukraine in 2014 from a Nordic perspective and Finland’s path to NATO membership following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
During the event, Tuomioja met with Professor Brendan Simms, Professor of the History of International Relations at the University of Cambridge. Tuomioja presented the activities of the Historians without Borders network, and the discussion highlighted the importance of international cooperation among historians in general.
